Community Events

-The Village of Gilberts celebrates several events throughout the year and encourages all residents to participate in the fun and camaraderie.

-The spring brings the Easter Bunny for some fun on the lawn as kids participate in the annual Easter Egg Hunt.

-In mid-April, residents gather to participate in the annual village-wide clean up which is held in conjunction with Earth Day.

-The annual village-wide garage sale takes place in mid-June from Thursday through Sunday. No permit necessary.

-The Village hosts "Community Days" in July or August which includes live music, food vendors and games and prizes for the kids.

-In late October, the village hosts a bonfire and hayride in Memorial Park with games, prizes and refreshments.

-In early December join us for a tree lighting ceremony. Santa arrives in town on a fire truck and visits each subdivision in the village.

Education

Gilberts is located in Community Unit School District 300. Children who reside in Gilberts may attend feeder schools of either Hampshire High School or H.D. Jacobs High School.

Parks and Recreation

Town Center Park

This is the new, large park that will be open soon. A parking lot is being installed which will accommodate over 80 vehicles.

The park is a 20 acres (80,937.2 m²) space and will be home to many sports teams such as the Gilberts Grizzlies and the YMCA's baseball and soccer teams.

Town Square Park

This centrally located park is near Lake Gilberts and features a new gazebo.

Memorial Park

Memorial Park offers the following amenities: baseball diamond, soccer field, playground, fishing pond, picnic pavilion and a new basketball court.

Skate Park

This Governor's Home Town Award winning skate park is located in Memorial Park.

Waitcus Park

Waitcus Park features a baseball diamond, basketball court (1/2 court), playground, fishing pond and a picnic pavilion.
