 film editor, during his career is considered one of the much in demand in the field of Film Editing. He became a full-pledge film editor beginning in 1954 at Premiere Productions with the film "Si Eva at si Adan" directed by Gerry de Leon. In 1967 he became a free lancer and worked with several independent film companies including TAGALOG ILANG ILANG PROD, AM (AMALIA FUENTES) Productions, JE (Joseph Estrada) Productions among others. He had edited about one to two hundred full length Filipino movies before devoting his time editing American film productions working with CIRIO SANTIAGO FILM ORGANIZATION and with several American movie companies who came to shoot their movies in the Philippines. He is a multi-awarded film editor having won three Famas Awards, Kalibre 45 (1957), Cavalry Command (1963) and Scout Rangers (1964), He garnered Best Film Editing Awards in both the Manila Film Festival ("Remembrance") and in Quezon City Film Festival ("Alyas Bagsik").
He served as President of the FILM EDITORS GUILD OF THE PHILIPPINES from 1974 to 1983 and then again in 1984 to 1986 at the same times being a member of the Board of Governors of the FILM ACADEMY OF THE PHILIPPINES.

He is now retired and currently resides in Canada with his wife, five children, and five grandchildren.
Lately, he has been involved in the Toronto television show "FILIPINO EH!" appearing in comedy skits (gags).
Gervacio has several pseudonyms for his work, some of which include: George Santos, Gerry Santos, Herb Bas, Bas Santos, and Bass Santos.
