Georgio Allentini is an African-American funk and dance music
singer/songwriter/keyboardist/guitarist from San Francisco, California
. He goes by the stage name Georgio. In 1987 he had several songs chart on the Hot 100, although none climbed any higher than #58. He was much more successful on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, where he earned four Top 10 hits, including "Tina Cherry," which hit #1. Although his dance-electronica songs became hits, his overconfidence and insulting attacks on the talent of Prince
and Michael Jackson
limited his radio exposure.
Recently, Georgio has made the transition to filmmaker with the 2003 release of Tapped Out, which also starred Coolio, Alex Avant and Jimmy Bridges. The film was written, co-produced and co-directed by Georgio, who also composed music for its soundtrack. He also worked at MIG Records.
Georgio has a son, Georgio Jr., with actress Kelly Jo Minter
