Floyd was one of the greatest players to ever play at Hernando High School in Brooksville Florida. Floyd was known Statewide for his vicious hard hits and knack for interceptions.

After leaving the NFL, George became a teacher and coach of several athletic teams at Bellevue High School in Bellevue Kentucky, just 3 miles south of Cincinnati. He spent nearly 18 years there and very quickly became a favorite among both athletes and students there. He was very often chosen by students as their favorite teacher, coach, and mentor.
