Gelbelsee is a German village with written texts detailing it dating from the 13th century.

History

Gelbelsee lies in an age-old settlement area, like the hill graves from the Hallstein time, all around in the forests, (1200 to 500 v. Chr.) show. The Hallstein people belonged masterhistorically to the illyrischen people family. The Germanic trunks followed them and during the people migration in the 5th century the Bajuwaren. Coming from the east, already a before-Roman road continues to lead by Gelbelsee, by the Kristal and Kipfenberg to the west. Close one ran past the Roman limes (remainders: two observation towers, barracks and well). Gelbelsee is called in the oldest documents Gouliubese, which is interpreted as "lake of the Gouliub" - an inhabitant -. In the year 1301 the place Gelbelsee was written. Some data from local history:
  • At the earliest 1058 weihte bishop Gundekar II. of Eichstaett a church pc. Hippolyt.
  • 1075: Patrozinium on 13 August. Hippolyt was Gegenpapst to Kalixt I., it died around 235 as a martyr on Sardinien. - Kirchweih was celebrated however since at the celebration hl. of the Bartholomaeus (24 August) and/or on following Sunday.
  • 1144: The place emerges as Gouliubesee in a document of the monastery Plankstetten.
  • 1279: Konrad kropf (and/or Struma) of Kipfenberg gave a yard in Gelbelsee to the monastery dock home.
  • 1301: Konrad kropf sold by Kipfenberg custrum et oppidum (castle and market) with the hereditary people, the patronage right of the church Gelbelsee and all accessories etc. to bishop Konrad von Pfeffenhausen von Eichstaett. Gelbelsee, so far nut/mother church of Kipfenberg, becomes now branch. The occupation right turns into from the Mr. Kropf to Kipfenberg on the bishop von Eichstaett.
  • 1426 again raised bishop Johann IITH from Heideck Gelbelsee to the Pfarrei. Around 1620 the minister of Gelbelsee, Melchior Holl, against the "loop dance" the village inhabitant and at that time the again built dance house of the village protested. Early 17. Century: The wood figure of the pc. Hippolyt (in Rittertracht with speer and sign) in the parish church developed.
  • 1690 received the church a new nave.
  • On 12 November 1678 the parsonage building burned down. It was again established by the Eichstaetter bricklayer master Hans Biba.
  • 1745 had again to be built the church tower on medieval foundations.
  • Around 1770 the church received still today the existing baroque altars with its altar sheets. The church is stuckiert.
  • 1829 to 1841 worked in Gelbelsee the scholarly minister Dr. Franz Anton Mayer.
  • 1910 painted Franz hard man the cover painting Martyrium of the holy Hippolyt in the parish church.
  • 1914 were established a 40 meter high water tower.
  • 1960 were based a krieger and a comrade shank association.
  • On 11 November 1977 the branch society Gelbelsee book Irlahuell of the catholic German woman federation was based.
  • 1981 weihte minister George Pavelka a new Marienkapelle on municipality reason in the upper local part. The building of predecessors in the lower local part, a plague chapel 17. Century, * 1976/78 the development of the local road had had to yield. The Marienbild 17. Century one transferred restored to the new building.
  • Since 1982 is Alfred Wenk Pfarradministrator of Gelbelsee and Irlahuell (since 1990 also for Irfersdorf; its there predecessor was a minister ith R. Josef March).
  • 1996 were handed over a new fire station to its regulation.

Gelbelsee transmitter

Gelbelsee transmitter, which belongs to the Bavarian Broadcasting Company is used for FM supply of north Upper Bavaria, Ingolstadt and Eichstätt. It went in 1952 in service as relay transmitter for Altmühl valley. The today used 112 metres tall concrete tower was built in 1979.
