This movie is set in a village setting where Amjad Khan is a tyrant. Amitabh plays a very naiive young man, and becomes a dacoit to avenge the death of his mother. Amitabh is thrown out of the village when he is unable to offer a satisfactory explanation for the death of the cow. He forms a group who work in throwing Amjad Khan off his high throne.
It was super hit at box office. The climax of the film was shoot in RISHIKESH Uttaranchal (Former in UP). Amitabh was going through the horse riding on LAXMAN JHOOLA in a fight scene and Amjad Khan was on the GLIDER. In the film - Amjad Khan's Plane strike onto the TRISHUL of temple -The LaxmAn Temple in fromt of Laxman Jhoola and blast out. The river ganga scene where Amitabh was giving funeral to his mom was shoot out on the bank of GANGA in Rishikesh. The Song - MANO TO MAIN GANGA MAA HOON NA MANO TO BEHTA PANI was shoot out in gangotri at haridwar.
