The could not agree with the decision of the national party not to candidate Renzo Tondo, the incumbent President of the Region, for that post again and to candidate instead Alessandra Guerra, member of Lega Nord Friuli-Venezia Giulia
. The leader of the group, Ferruccio Saro, was candidate for President and won 2.8% of the vote.
Since then Saro continued to be member of Forza Italia (he was at the time member of the Chamber of Deputies
), but was elected to the Senate
in the 2006 general election
