Duarte came back to boxing in 1994 and made a name for herself at Bantamweight, landing a shot for the WBA Bantamweight Title against Mayru Serruto in 2008, losing a close decision. In her next fight she upset Alberto Inurrigarro and her efforts were awarded Ring magazine comeback of the year
