Seymour was a fullforward and was recruited from New South Wales to join Carlton in the 1927 season. After two seasons with Carlton he moved to Northcote where he became a prolific goalkicker. He played 201 times for the club, including 5 winning grand finals. His 880 goals was and remains a club record and he topped the VFA's goal kicking with over 100 goals in 3 separate seasons.
