Fortec Star Satellite Receivers

Fortec Star satellite receivers have gained international popularity due to their exceptional value, ease of use, and feature-rich functionality. Historically, Fortec has used OEM manufacturers to supply their product line of receivers. However, this has created problems for Fortec. First, the features that have been developed and paid for by Fortec were later made available to other customers of the OEM manufacturer. These other customers would be competitors of Fortec. Second, the OEM suppliers would not take the steps necessary to prevent software "hackers" from creating new versions of the receiver's software which allowed piracy of encrypted channels. These problems lead Fortec to open their own engineering house in Korea in early 2007. With full control over their own receiver development, Fortec launched their first product developed by their own engineers in May 2007. This receiver was called PASSION, and would be Fortec's first High Definition receiver. Fortec is now discontinuing the use of OEM manuafacturers for their receiver product line as new products are introduced by their own engineering house.
