It employs a small group of foreigners to revise translations of North Korean texts so as to make those texts suitable for foreign-language publication.

Similar publishing houses also existed in the Soviet Union and in China during the Stalin and Mao Zedong periods, respectively. Certain Soviet and Chinese works were published by the Foreign Languages Publishing Houses of those nations.
