. It is located on the junction of Route 2
with Route 12, and is named after the Uruguayan writer and politician Florencio Sánchez
. Its status was elevated to "Pueblo" (town) category on 2 November 1929 by decree Ley No. 8.482. Today it is home to more than 3,500 people.
