was adopted on February 12, 1992. It is similar to the flag of 1949, except for the removal of the socialist star.

It has three equal bands. The central band is blue, described as the eternel blue sky; both side bands are red, representing the ability of Mongolia to thrive in its harsh environment. Centered on the hoist-side red band in yellow is the national emblem (the Soyombo symbol

Between 1945 and 1992, the flag of the Mongolian People's Republic displayed a yellow star on top of the Soyombo, symbolizing socialism.
