In 2007 First Guaranty acquired First Community Holdings Corporation. By 2009 First Guaranty had 20 branches. Although most prominent in Tangipahoa Parish, First Guaranty has branches scattered through south Louisiana and also several branches in northeastern Louisiana.

After certain locations were spun off, in 2010 First Guaranty had 17 locations. As of 2010 June 30 First Guaranty's total assets were $1.0 billion, with net income equating to $6.2 million.

The philosophy of First Guaranty is to concentrate on towns and small cities in selected markets. The president of First Guaranty is Michael Raymond Sharp.
