platform. For all practical purposes, FinePrint acts like a real printer, at least as far as software running on the Windows platform is concerned. Using FinePrint allows users several ways to reduce printing, potentially saving paper, ink, and time.

The software offers a preview before "printing" the content to either a real printer (see the screenshot) or to a file, by means of a virtual printer. A companion program called pdfFactory, geared at generating PDF files, will integrate into FinePrint, although the software can also use any other virtual printer for that purpose. It can combine several print jobs into one, optionally rearranging the order of jobs within the print run. Individual pages within the run can optionally be deleted from the run. In addition, up to eight (8) "pages" of real content may be scaled down to fit onto each single page printed by FinePrint. It can even guide manual printing of duplex (front-to-back printing) on non-duplex printers.

FinePrint also allows users several additional formatting features, such as page borders for the entire page, page borders for each "page" on the multiple-page document it can create, user-created custom stationery and watermarks for on-demand use, as well as letterheads that may be used for documents printed via FinePrint. There are many other features as well.

When the user has finished the document in FinePrint, tweaking it to satisfaction, the end result may be printed in several formats: to a "real" printer, to a FinePrint file for future use, or to PDF for electronic distribution or archiving.

FinePrint is one of the software products developed by FinePrint Software, LLC, which was founded in 1995.
