Education

Fairmount has one school — Fairmount Public School — which is a combination of elementary and high school. The school has about 110-120 students. Fairmount is unique because it has a rotating study hall. This allows every student in grades 7-12 to get an hour each day to work on miscellaneous homework.

Sports

Fairmount is active in many sports. School sports for girls include track, volleyball, basketball, and golf. Boys' sports are basketball, baseball, football, track, and golf. The city of Fairmount also fields skill ball, t-ball, Midgets, Babe Ruth, and Legion Baseball leagues. For girls, there is skill ball, t-ball, 12 and under softball, and 18+ softball. The Fairmount town team baseball team won the 2007 North Dakota Class A championship.
