History

There were elementary schools in Brewster, Beach City, and Navarre and after the closing of the Justus middle school, the middle school students were housed in the basement of the high school, until a new middle school and a new elementary school were opened to students and faculty in the fall of 2007. After the new schools were finished, the contents of the old elementaries were auctioned off and the schools were demolished.
The high school was built in 1965 on land donated by Mr. Benjamin Fairless. The high school was built to keep up with the growing communities. Before the time of the creation of the Fairless Local School district there were three main high schools, the Navarre Rams, the Beach City Pirates, and the Brewster Railroaders.

Cheerleading

Cheerleading is an option extracurricular for students. The students tryout and are placed on either the Varsity Squad or the JV Squad. Both squards cheer at home varsity football games, while only the Varsity cheerleaders cheer at away Varsity games. The JV Squad then cheers alone at JV football games. There is also the option to be a cheerleader for the Fairless Basketball teams. Same conditions apply as with football, the only main difference is that JV and Varsity games are back-to-back, therefore allowing them to ride the same bus and face the same opponent, just different grade levels. The tryout process for cheerleading usually takes place in early spring. Then those who place go through vigorous training throughout the summer to be ready for their first game at the start of fall. Tryouts typically consist of the memorization of a dance and 3 cheers. Also, the contestants are given words to another cheer of which they are to make their own motions. There are also mandatory jumps and stunts of which you will be tested upon. The Fairless Cheer coaches of the 10-11 season are Coach Johnson, assisted by Coach Thomas.
