Pow Wow is the signature homecoming
event at Florida State University
in Tallahassee, Florida
. It is held in the Leon County Civic Center
before the Florida State Seminoles football
teams' annual homecoming game, usually on a Friday night. Pow Wow features performances by the FSU cheerleaders, the FSU Golden Girls, FSU Flying High Circus, as well as various other student organizations.
The main function of Pow Wow is to function as a pep rally for the winter sport teams as well as the football team. The voice of the Seminoles, Gene Deckerhoff
, hosts the event and includes appearances by head football coach Bobby Bowden
and the Seminole football team, Leonard Hamilton
and the men's basketball team, Sue Semrau
and the women's basketball team and Bob Braman and the track and field teams.
