. The team currently plays in the regionalised fourth tier of Argentinian football, known as "Primera C Metropolitana".

The club was founded in 1910 with the name the name Club Unión de Excursionistas, which was changed to its current denomination in 1920. The name Excursionistas translates roughly as "The Voyagers" and is akin to the name "Wanderers" sported by many clubs.
