The title Everything I Want to Be was initially meant to serve as Jack's third studio album. However, he revealed on Twitter in September 2011 that he was heading back to the studio, and he would feature 5 of the songs on a compilation album, using old and never heard before material. It is unknown whether any of the tracklisting revealed in July 2011 will feature on his next album, renamed Delusion of Grandeur, to be released Summer 2012.

"State of Mind" was released as a sample single on 26 June 2011. "Be With You" has been announced as the single that will accompany the EP, and was premiered on radio a few days before the album's release.
