 used to evaporate liquids to obtain the dry forms of the substances dissolved in them. Evaporating basins typically have a 4–5 in (101.6–127 mm) diameter, are made out of white ceramic, and have a lip for the pouring of excess liquid. They are usually 2–3 mm thick to aid heat transfer.
