Esani: is a dominant clan of Khosa tribe, Pakistan. They speak Saraeki and Balochi. They are mostly settled in Dera Ghazi Khan. The capital of Esani family is Dalana which is situated in DGK and the sardar of this branch of family is Sardar Husnain Abbas Khan Esani Khosa, elder brother of Sardar Asif Nadeem Khan Esani Khosa (late). He is titled as Rais-e-Dalana. He is a well known personality of D.G. Khan and is very influential in the city politics. He became elected Nazim of wadore in 2005 elections.
Sardar Esa Khan was a founder of Esani tribe. He was head of whole Khosa tribe between 1720 A.D to 1750 A.D. He was a man of honour and his bravery and valour was very much famous. In his reign, The Esani tribe was only dominant clan amongst all Khosa tribes.
Sardar Raheem Khan Esani khosa, grandfather of Sardar Husnain Abbas Khan Esani Khosa, was a well known landlord of DGK and was a strong candidate for "Tomundar" (leader of a Tribe) of Khosa Tomun. But due to his sudden death, Khosa tribe suffers with a huge crises as there was no man in the Khosa tribe who could fulfill the gap of Tomundari (leadership of a tribe). Atlast, Tomundari of Khosa tribe went in the hands of Balel Khosas (another dominant clan of khosa tribe) in spite of Esani khosas. The man, who took the responsibility of Khosa Tomun, is Tomundar Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Balel Khosa, ex-Governor of Punjab, Pakistan.
The habitat of Esani Khosa tribe is in eight "Maozas" (special bounded area). Those eight Maozas are:
1- Maoza Dalana (capital)
2- Maoza Sabkooa
3- Maoza Sarr-tokh
4- Maoza Takrra (southern)
5- Maoza Takrra (northern)
6- Maoza Jajj (land of palms and dates)
7- Maoza Dahr
8- Maoza Tokh-Dalana
Maoza Dalana is capital of Esani Khosas (Some of Esani Khosas are settled in "Yaru"). Maoza Sabkooa stretches its area from Maoza Dalana to Sakhi Sarwar (This is approximately the distance of 20 kilometers). Maoza Sarr-tokh, Maoza Takrra (Southern and Northern), Maoza Jajj and Maoza Dahr lies in the middle of Maoza Dalna (the capital) and Maoza Tokh-Dalana, while Maoza Tokh-Dalana is situated near the Legahri Tomun and Buzdar Tomun. This huge area of Esani Khosa Tomun is filled with both rocky mountains and rusty desert of Suleiman mountains.
After the death of Sardar Raheem Khan esani Khosa, There was no one in Esani Khosas who could lead this tribe politically. Sardar Hayat Khan Esani Khosa, son of Sardar Raheem Khan Esani Khosa had never took interest in political affairs of this tribe and so his son Sardar Faiz Mohammad Khan Esani Khosa (nick named as Faiz Mund Khaan). Hence this tribe of khosas suffered from a serious political crises for a long period of two generations. At last, Sardar Asif Nadeem Khan Esani Khosa (late), son of Sardar Faiz Mohammad Khan Esani Khosa, took this responsibility and involved in political and public affairs of DGK. He donated 4000 acres area from Maoza Dalana and Maoza Sabkooa for various government projects.
Sardar Asif Nadeem Khan Esani Khosa died in early 2006. After the death of Sardar Asif Nadeem Khan Esani Khosa, his younger brother, Sardar Husnain Abbas Khan Esani Khosa (nashai) took the charge of this Khosa tribe. He kept participating in various elections, also remained Nazim of wadore and retired in 2010. Sardar Husnain Abbas Khan Esani Khosa is a better representative of Esani Khosa tribe and his contributions in political affairs of DGK are still going on.
