Tate's gear is chosen with variety and freedom from any one sponsor. On the most recent tour he was outfitted with Ludwig Vistalites (22,13,16). Other sets in Tate's arsenal include a vintage Slingerland (20,12,14),an SJC custom set, and an Orange County Drums and Percussion set. His snares usually include the set snares from the Slingerland and Vistalite kits, also a Tama Starclassic and various Gregg Keplinger
