Political career

Tanenblatt leads the National Government Affairs Group at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. His practice focuses on governmental and regulatory affairs at the federal, state and local levels. He is considered by a growing number of elected officials and corporate leaders to be an invaluable resource and named by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as one of the state's "Movers and Shakers"

Eric began his career at McKenna Long & Aldridge in 2001, left to serve as Chief of Staff to Governor Sonny Perdue, Georgia's first Republican Governor in over 130 years, then returned in 2004. He continued his work with Governor Perdue as state coordinator for the 2004 G8 Summit that was held at Sea Island, Georgia and later served as the finance chairman for the Governor's successful reelection campaign. He currently serves as a National Finance Co-Chair of the Republican Governor’s Association.

He is the co-founder and past chairman of Hands on Georgia, a statewide program to promote volunteerism, and recently served as co-chair for the host committee for the 2008 National Conference for Service and Volunteerism held in Atlanta. He was a member of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2001, Leadership Atlanta Class of 2003 and served as a program chair for Leadership Georgia in 2004.

Other service positions Tanenblatt holds include the Board of Visitors for Emory University, Finance Committee Co-Chair of the Republican Governors Association, the Board of Regents for the Fund for American Studies and the Community Board for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Tanenblatt is a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta.

Tanenblatt served as Chairman of the Georgia Republican Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors for Hands on Atlanta from 2001-2002. He was a founder of the Technology leadership Coalition and served as Vice Chairman from 1998-2002 as well as being a member of the Board of Directors for Trees Atlanta from 1997-2002.
