's The National for fourteen years. He began his broadcasting career in 1973, after graduating from the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute radio and television arts program and was the first Canadian to receive the Benton Fellowship in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Chicago
in 1984.
Eric has been married to his wife, Pamela, for 21 years. They have two children, Dana, 21, and Maggie, 20.
