Geography

Engi has an area, , of 40.7 km² (15.7 sq mi). Of this area, 38.1% is used for agricultural purposes, while 36.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.2% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (24.6%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).

Engi is located in the lower Sernf river valley and on the right bank of the river. It consists of the village of Engi with the village sections of Vorderdorf, Dörfli and Hinterdorf.

Demographics

Engi has a population (as of ) of . , 6.9% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -10.1%. Most of the population speaks German (95.0%), with Italian being second most common ( 1.4%) and Portuguese being third ( 0.6%).
