, an organization which supports pro-choice female candidates. She easily won the August 5th Democratic Primary with 55.64% of the vote. Her general election campaign was endorsed by The Detroit Free Press. She went on to handily defeat Republican David Micola in the November 4th general election.

She took office on January 1, 2009. She serves on the Energy and Technology, Insurance, Tax Policy, and Judiciary (Vice-Chair) Committees. She is up for re-election in November, 2010.
