, the youngest. In the first episode of series Ellen was involved in a car accident and was taken to Woodbridge Hospital in Woodbridge, New York. She died of her injuries, and the family spiraled out of control.

Jerry was furious and was intent exacting revenge on the drunk driver who took his mother's life. He beat him violently and Jerry wound up in reform school. Susan took over as the mother figure of the family, and became quite bossy.
