Eldaring
Encyclopedia
The Eldaring is a Civil Service Organisation, founded in August 2000, which offers information about Asatru to the German-speaking countries. “Eldr” is old Norwegian and means fire, so Eldaring can be translated as “Ring of fire”, meaning a ring of fireplaces, hearths, etc.

Asatru is a recreation of the pre-Christian Germanic religions of Europe.

The members of the Eldaring come mainly from Germany, Austria and Switzerland but also from other countries and even from outside Europe. For those who wish to join it is explicitly expected that they do it for religious and cultural reasons and respect those who did or do that as well.

The use of the Eldaring as a platform for political or racist activities is prohibited and is not tolerated in any form. The Eldaring emphasises that it distances itself from Neo-Nazi ideology as
well as from the misuse of Neo-paganism during the Third Reich.

The Eldaring sees itself as a dogma-free, heathen community that is committed to the religious traditions of the Germanic peoples.

To bring interested people together, under the flag of the ER, there are monthly open meetings at many places mostly organized in cafes or restaurants. Members often join kindred or ritual groups (blot groups) locally or regionally.

The Herdfeuer (Hearthfire), the ER-periodical, published 4 or 5 times a year, has gotten from the beginning the highest respect from scientists, Asatru folk and other pagans for the excellent quality of the contributions.
