"El Último Beso" es una adaptación de la canción "Last Kiss", escrita por Wayne Cochran en 1962 e interpretada originalmente por Wayne Cochran & the C.C. Riders. Esta primera versión tuvo poco éxito. Cochran basó la canción en un accidente de tránsito (del que fue testigo), donde fallecieron tres parejas de adolescentes. El accidente ocurrió en una autopista cerca del lugar donde éste vivía.

En 1964, J. Frank Wilson, junto a los Cavaliers, realizó su propia versión, que alcanzó el Número 2 de los rankings.

Casi a fines de la década de los 60's, la banda peruana "Los Doltons" hicieron su propia adaptación, pero esta vez en español. Alcanzaron el Número Uno en
las radios peruanas de ese entonces.

Dos años después de este éxito, el cantante colombiano Alci Acosta hizo otra versión, siendo también un éxito en su país.

Es precisamente en Culiacàn en donde alguien les sugirió actuar en un local llamado "La Fogata", ahi se presentaba también otro grupo llamado los Siuggers. cuyo cantante llamo su atención.

Leopoldo Sanchez Labastida era el hijo del dueño del Bar. En vista de que Gamez solo quería tocar el requinto, la puerta se abrió para recibir a "Polo".
Pero los recursos de Los Apson eran exiguos, por lo que los familiares los alcanzaron ahí para ayudarles, pagaron sus deudas y los apoyaron en su odisea hacia la Capital.

Fue Uno De Los 2 Vocalistas Originales De Los Apson. En 1964 Deja El Grupo Para Convertirse En Solista.

En 1965 Graba 'EL ULTIMO BESO' El Cual Fue Exito En Toda Latinoamerica En Aquel Año.

Su ruta continuo por Mazatlan en donde permanecieron solo algunos días. "Polo" nació el 2 de Abril de 1945 en Sinaloa y murió fallecío trágicamente al ahogarse en una piscina de un hotel donde se hospedaba el 30 de Julio de 1974 en Mérida, Yucatán.
