Earl of Mountrath

Earl of Mountrath was a title in the Peerage of Ireland
created on 6 September 1660, along with the titles Viscount Coote and Baron Coote, for Sir Charles Coote, 2nd Baronet
. On the death of the 7th Earl in 1802, the titles became extinct.
On 31 July 1800, the 7th and last Earl was created Baron Castle Coote (Peerage of Ireland
) which - under a special remainder - became extinct on the 3rd Baron's death in 1827.
The Earls also held an Irish Baronetcy
(of Castle Cuffe), which had been conferred on the first Earl's father, Sir Charles Coote, 1st Baronet, in 2 April 1621; on the 7th Earl's death the Baronetcy passed to another line of the 1st Baronet's descendants, and remains extant.
