Dougie Vipond is one of the busiest and most versatile broadcasters in the country. For the past eleven years he has hosted BBC Scotland’s sport output on Sportscene, covering a vast range of events from football’s Scottish Cup Finals to Rugby’s Calcutta Cup.
Other sports he’s covered over the years include World Championship Mountain Biking, Three Day Eventing and The Bowls World Championship. He can also be seen covering Scotland’s nightly sports news on Reporting Scotland.
Dougie spent four years reporting for the BBC's Holiday strand and his love of the outdoors has led to him presenting BBC Scotland’s The Adventure Show, an extreme sport series in which he reports from and takes part in a variety of adventure sports and competitions.
He became the new presenter of BBC Scotland’s award winning rural affairs series, Landward in April 2009.
In 2010 Dougie appeared in the documentary Up A Long Creek, in which he and the comedian Fred MacAulay kayaked the length of the Caledonian Canal for Sport Relief.
In the same year he fronted the world’s first high definition broadcast of live climbing. The Great Climb, was seen simultaneously across the UK on BBC 2 and the BBC HD Channel and streamed worldwide on the web. This programme won a Scottish BAFTA in the Live Event catagory.
He recently fronted a sports/health strand for The One Show on BBC 1.
