His respect for renewable resources combined with his design talent garnered him the first Green Building Design Award from the City of Austin. Dick Clark was honored with the city’s first Downtown Austin Alliance Downtown Impact Award for contributing to the standard of excellence in design.

From 1969 through 1971 Mr. Clark worked for Bud Oglesby in Dallas, Texas. He was inspired by Mr. Oglesby's contemporary style and unique design abilities.
