Devils Backbone Brewing Company

Established in 2008, Devils Backbone Brewing Company is a brewpub located in Roseland, Virginia, close to the Wintergreen Resort.

The brewery has won several awards at both the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.

At the 2009 Great American Beer Festival, Devils Backbone won the following medals:
  • Gold - Gold Leaf Lager (category 23, International Style Pilsner)
  • Silver - Vienna Lager (category 31, Vienna Style Lager)
  • Silver - Natural Born Keller (category 21, Kellerbier/Zwickelbier)
  • Silver - Danzig (category 48, Baltic-style Porter)


At the 2010 Great American Beer Festival, they won the following medals:
  • Gold - Gold Leaf Lager (category 24, American Style or International Style Pilsner)
  • Gold - Baltic Coffee (category 6, Coffee Flavored Beer)
  • Bronze - Ale of Fergus (category 51, English Style Mild Ale)
  • Bronze - Wintergreen Weiss (category 61, South German Style Hefeweizen)


2010 also saw Devils Backbone named the World Beer Cup Brewers Association World Beer Cup 2010 Champion Brewery and Brewmaster - Small Brewpub. At the same competition, Devils Backbone won the following medals:
  • Gold - Danzig (category 40, Baltic-Style Porter)
  • Bronze - Kollaborator (category 31, Traditional German-Style Bock)
