Detinho was released by South China at the end of the 2008-2009 season. He revisited Hong Kong in early September 2009 and received an offer to play for Citizen.

Detinho scored a hat-trick and helped Citizen defeat Sun Hei SC by 5:4 in a league game during the 2010-11 Hong Kong First Division League season. Detinho also came on as a substitute in the 2010-11 Hong Kong Senior Challenge Shield final, helping the club overturn a 0:3 deficit to draw the match 3:3, then win the match after extra time and penalties by 4:2.
