, Chester were deep in the relegation zone at the time of Mann's arrival, and during his reign they managed only one league win. However, Mann did manage the club to a 2-2 draw at arch-rivals Wrexham, despite having only nine men on the pitch in the second half.

After resigning due to illness, Mann briefly stayed at the club in a behind the scenes role.
