Football career
As a schoolboy, Derek played in numerous positions from goalkeeeper to centre-forward. Prior to signing up for Fulham, Lampe played for Brettenham Road School, Edmonton. He went on to play centre half for Edmonton Boys. Lampe joined Fulham as a junior in May 1954, and made his first class debut against West Ham UnitedWest Ham United F.C.
