. The department has its own building situated at the campus of BUET. All the class rooms, laboratory, library offices are located in this building.

Structure

More than 800 undergraduate students as well as 400 graduate students are currently studying in this renowned department. There are almost 65 faculty members comprising over 45 professors and others who are dedicated in teaching the students along with a lot of research work for the betterment of the country. The department of Civil Engineering has four major divisions:

Research of this department of this department is extremely important in the national level, which include areas like behavior of present structures situated in various parts of the country, proper usage of building materials, observing the properties soil in various parts of the country, seismic zoning, waste management

Some of these research have brought about great result. Like incorporation of Bangladesh National Building Code which was completed in 1993. Many other research projects of more fundamental nature have greatly contributed to the advancement of greater knowledge.
