College friends Andy Martin and Dave Rose launched Deep South in 1995 as a small, independent record label working out of the third bedroom of their apartment. The company started out by releasing Deep compilations featuring material from up and coming artists. Deep South quickly gained national recognition as the artists they signed and released began to achieve great success, most notably Five for Fighting

Deep South has recently expanded its event production horizons by teaming up once again with Raleigh Convention Center for North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue's inauguration. The 2009 Inaugural Ball featured 35 national speakers and entertainers including Country singer Eric Church
. Between 3,500 and 5,000 people attended this full broadcast quality production.
Other events produced by Deep South include: CMT "Revolution" Tour with Miranda Lambert and special guests Eric Church and Josh Kelley at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, The NC International Auto Expo, The NC Ag Jam, The Chamber of Commerce 'Raleigh to Nashville' excursion and more.
Deep South, along with the Raleigh Convention Center, also produced Raleigh Downtown Live
, a free outdoor summer concert series featuring national recording artists held in Moore Square Park in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Raleigh Downtown Live became North Carolina's premier outdoor concert series, giving music fans free concerts by the likes of
