College friends Andy Martin and Dave Rose launched Deep South in 1995 as a small, independent record label working out of the third bedroom of their apartment. The company started out by releasing Deep compilations featuring material from up and coming artists. Deep South quickly gained national recognition as the artists they signed and released began to achieve great success, most notably Five for Fighting

Deep South and the Raleigh Convention Center team up each fall to produce Raleigh Wide Open, which grew to become Raleigh's largest annual celebration, featuring Chuck Berry

Deep South has recently expanded its event production horizons by teaming up once again with Raleigh Convention Center for North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue's inauguration. The 2009 Inaugural Ball featured 35 national speakers and entertainers including Country singer Eric Church
