dbForge Studio for MySQL has three editions: Express, Standard, and Professional.

Standard includes essential tools for database developers, such as a debugger, a Query Builder, code templates, object search, various export and maintenance wizards.

Professional is a full-featured software for database projects, comparing schema and project data, debugging stored procedures and scripts, creating complex queries, etc.

History

The first version was released on 12 April 2005 under the name "MyDeveloper Studio".

Through 3 years of development the product has raised up to the version 3.0 (released on 01-August-2008), and got a new name - "dbForge Studio for MySQL" as well as a lot of new features and improvements.

Version 4.0 saw release on 10 February 2010. The improved version 4.50 was released on 21 June 2010.

On 19 April 2011 the product version 5.0 was released and is the most current as of now.

Functionality

dbForge Studio for MySQL has got both standard features of most database tools and unique functionality.

Main features of dbForge Studio for MySQL, v5.0 include:
  • Administration and Maintenance tools

- A comprehensive Security Manager to administer user accounts and privileges;

- Special MySQL administration tools boosting MySQL server maintenance;

- Backup and restore wizards supporting large databases and enabling users to back up and restore schemas or data only in addition to full backups;

- Advanced search tools allowing to find a required database object by any fragment of its CREATE statement, as well as find a data fragment in one or several tables;

- Service control to administrate several MySQL servers on different computers.
  • Query Builder - provides visual creation and management of queries and complex sub-queries in a diagram.

  • Query Profiler - a tool for database developers that offers visual query profiling and MySQL query optimization, achieved through comparison of profiling results.

  • Reporting and Analysis tools provide extended capabilities to prepare data reports with MySQL reporting tool and conversion of row data to informative pivot tables.

  • Multi-format data export to 10 widely-used data formats – CSV, XML, Text, XLS (MS Excel), PDF, DBF, HTML, RTF, MDB (MS Access), ODBC.

  • Multi-format data import from 8 widely-used data formats – CSV, XML, Text, XLS (MS Excel), XLSX (MS Excel 2007/2010), DBF, MDB (MS Access), ODBC.

  • Database projects for MySQL server - include the capability to integrate various SQL and script files into a single project, group them into folders, and manage in one place. You can build your project to a single or several script files and deploy them on the server.

The latest version of dbForge Studio for MySQL is 5.0. The following features were introduced in this version:
