David Joseph joined Universal Music UK in August 1998 as general manager of the company's Polydor

In April 2006, he was promoted to President, Universal Music Operations in which role he launched the company’s TV production division Globe. He was promoted to Chairman and CEO of Universal Music UK in March 2008 since when he has overseen all divisions of the company including the labels Polydor, Island
