Turcotte's experience as a coach and former NHLer has helped the Lakers in their in inaugural season in the OUA, to be a contending team ranked as high in the Canadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS) rankings as 8th, especially spectacular considering the team is made up of largely first year players. He has 2 daughters Amanda and Kaylyn. He has a son Devan.
