He captained the England side which won the U-18 European Championship in 1993. He scored the winning penalty in the one-nil victory against Turkey in the final.

Not only is Darren still playing in the Evo-Stik First Division South for the newly reformed Ilkeston, he also performs the role of assistnat Manager alongside Kevin Wilson.
