A tough tackling defender, Danny joined Sligo Rovers in August 2007 and made his debut against Shamrock Rovers, which Sligo Rovers went on to win 2-0. Danny scored his first goal for the Bit O' Red against Cobh Ramblers earlier this season scoring Rovers second goal in a 3-1 victory. Ventre has played in a number of positions for the club, right across the back four or in midfield and is known for his hard work and commitment wherever he plays. Ventre has captained the team on many occasions including in the 2009 FAI Cup

Danny has continued to be a important member of the Sligo Rovers squad for the 2011 season, which has accumulated in some great performances notably against Derry City in the Ea Sports Cup semi-final where he scored his second goal of the season. His first goal came against Shelbourne in the in the previous round of the League Cup, while his first league goal came against Bray Wanderers in September.
