As a writer his first play, The Boy and the Goat, was semi-autobiographical and investigated the heightened suicide rates amongst children of Vietnam Veterans. Heavily influenced by the death of his brother, it was also based on research published in the 1997 Australian Vietnam Veteran Cohort Study. Internationally recognised photographer of the Vietnam War Tim Page provided images supporting issues raised in the script. It was nominated for a Matilda Award in 2005.

From 2005 until 2008 he contributed as a literary critic to The Courier Mail, Queensland's largest newspaper and the third largest circulating daily in Australia (as at 2007).

Eady has worked extensively as an actor for the Queensland Arts Council, an organisation providing Australians access to arts regardless of their geographical location.
