company that provides wireless control solutions for commercial buildings.

Commercial building control and lighting control solutions can provide benefits including reduced energy consumption and carbon footprint, compliance with new "green" building regulations, and cost savings available through government rebates and the ability to take advantage of demand response programs.

Daintree's ControlScope wireless lighting control includes key elements of lighting controls including switches, sensors and ballasts to enable control deployed through easy and accurate commissioning, in a reliable and scalable system. Wireless communication is achieved either by wirelessly adapting traditional wired devices (such as sensors), or by building wireless communications capabilities directly into devices.

Daintree has a strong background in wireless sensor and control mesh networking, with extensive knowledge and experience gained through its design verification and operational support tool, the Sensor Network Analyzer (SNA). The SNA provided support for a number of wireless embedded technologies including IEEE 802.15.4

Since its inception, Daintree has been an active member of the embedded wireless networking world. Over the years, Daintree's management team has held a number of roles within key wireless standards bodies, including chair of several working groups within the ZigBee Alliance.

In 2003, when many wireless technologies were new, Daintree's focus was on providing design verification and operational support tools for wireless embedded developers. As the market and technologies matured, so too did Daintree's product portfolio. In 2007, the company began developing and delivering wireless solutions for multiple vertical markets. By 2009, Daintree had narrowed its focus to lighting control solutions for broad commercial development.

Products

  • ControlScope manager (CSM): Software to configure, manage, and maintain lighting in commercial buildings. It includes management of individual devices and "zones" of multiple devices, plus calibration, scheduling, alarm notification, energy monitoring, occupancy and daylight control, demand response controls, and an automated commissioning tool.
  • Wireless area controller (WAC): Hardware that manages the wireless network, contains the lighting control algorithm that converts sensing data into commands to ballasts and luminaires, tracks devices and stores their states, and detects issues and repairs the system.
  • Wireless adapter: Hardware that enables traditional "wired" devices to communicate wirelessly within the network. It convert wireless signals into wired control signals, and can be used in conjunction with devices such as wired sensors, ballasts and switches.
  • Sensor network analyzer (SNA): Software for the development, deployment and management of wireless hardware devices and embedded applications based technologies such as ZigBee, IEEE 802.15.4, 6LoWPAN, SimpliciTI and Synkro. Best known for its performance measurements and its network visualization, which graphically shows what is going on within the wireless network. The SNA is also an important part of ZigBee Alliance interoperability and certification events. (Discontinued 31-March-2010)
  • Sensor network adapter: Hardware that can be used as a capture device in wireless embedded networks, plus also actively interact with live ZigBee and IEEE 802.15.4 networks to poll, configure and commission devices. (Discontinued 31-March-2010)

is the name of a specification for a suite of high-level communication protocols using small, low-power digital radios based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for wireless personal area networks (WPANs). ZigBee is targeted at RF applications that require a low data rate, long battery life, and secure networking.

Daintree is an active member of the ZigBee Alliance, and their Sensor Network Analyzer is used by the ZigBee Alliance for product certification.
