project the seeds of which began in 1998 by Jets To Brazil bassist Jeremy Chatelain. The project first started when Chatelain began writing material in an alt-country style that didn't quite suit the sound of Jets To Brazil. At first the idea for Cub Country was to be more along the lines of a solo project for Chatelain than an actual band. In 2000 "Ultra Slim vs. Cub Country" was released through the Ear To Ground label followed by "High Uinta High" which was released through Jade Tree Records
. On the latter album Chatelain recruited Cashe Tolman of Rival Schools
