environment. As of 2007, Headmaster of Crofton is Mr. Matthew Leeming. Crofton opened in 1974 as a purpose-built mixed comprehensive school. Crofton originally had 6 tutor groups, but which has now expanded (due to Stubbington's increasing population) to 8 tutor groups per year.

Crofton also has 4 'feeder' schools: Crofton Hammond Infants School, Crofton Hammond Junior School, Anne Dale Infants School and Anne Dale Junior School. Each are four separate schools, despite the similar names. Students from these schools automatically get first priority when applying to Crofton.

Crofton does not currently have an on-site sixth form.
