In 2006, Compass Film Academy launched a One Year Film Program for people who want an intensive film education.

In 2007, 24 students selected to participate in this program for the school year 2008-2009.

In 2009, Compass Film Academy became an accredited film school through ACCSC. the school's Film and Video Production program encompasses 14 months of intensive, accelerated classes followed by an internship period.

In 2010, Compass Film Academy was approved by the U.S. Department of Education to award Federal Student Aid. Students must fill out the FAFSA at fafsa.gov to see if they qualify for student aid.

In 2011, the college changed its name to Compass College of Cinematic Arts.

24-Hour Film Festival

The Compass Film Academy Alumni Board hosts the annual 24 Hour Film Festival. The public is invited to participate in this event along with students and alumni of the school. The ten best films are selected for live judging on the evening of the screenings. The top prize is $1000.
