Coláiste Chamuis was founded by Gearóid Denvir in 1973 in Camus. A second college was opened in An Tulach in 1985 and a third in Ros a Mhíl in 1992 http://www.colaistechamuis.ie/history.html. The College motto is “Is fiú agus is féidir” (“It is worthwhile and possible”) and there is a policy of total immersion in the language http://www.colaistechamuis.ie/ethos.html, students found to be speaking languages other than Irish may be sent home. Coláiste Chamuis caters for over 1,500 students every year.
